Sad Days and Mindfulness

When I began doing meditation in 2010 and later on when I began doing mindfulness in 2018 I was able to navigate my sadness a lot better. Sadness is a part of our emotions and there will always be times when we feel sad, down, or even how musicians say, “having a blue day”. And it’s ok, it’s part of life. We just need to remember is a bad day, not a bad life and things will come together and the sun will rise and so we will we.
When I am sad I like to meditate and journal, Also I like to listen to Violin Instrumentals.
I also practice mindfulness when I am sad. I always ask myself what is this emotion trying to teach me today, What is this sadness a reflection of?
And it gets easier. I take my time to cry, It’s ok to cry, there is no shame in crying and it helps if someone can be your comforting shoulder while you do so, The comfort and support of the people we love the most is very important on days like these.
On days like these is important to open up to the people we trust, to let them know slowly but surely what we are feeling and what possible events triggered the sadness.
Comforting herbal teas also help. Chamomile Tea, Lavender Tea, and Cinnamon Tea without caffeine give us a soothing effect that allows us to navigate our emotions without judgment.
So remember the next time you feel sad and you wondered, how can it be that I am doing meditation and mindfulness practices and I have encountered sadness? Allow sadness to be in your body and do something calm about it, Deal with it patiently and you’ll see the next day the sun will rise and you so will rise too.
